The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Books, Enterainment

The events in the novel take place in the summer of 1992, when Nick Carraway takes a job as a salesman in New York. He rents a small house on Long Island, right next door to the gorgeous mansion of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire who was deeply in love and obsessed with the beautiful Daisy Buchanan. Jay Gatsby’s parties were very famous in Long Island, but he never attended any of his own parties. People from around the city would just drive to his parties on weekend, and most people didn’t even know him, or didn’t even get an invitation to the party, they just simply drove there, because the party was open for everyone.

At the beginning Nick, who is Daisy’s cousin, didn’t know about the connection between her and Jay Gatsby, but throughout the summer, he finds out how they know each other, and the reasons behind the parties that Jay Gatsby organizes and also the reason why Jay Gatsby bought the mansion he was living in.

Slowly Gatsby became more and more obsessed with the idea of having Daisy and he was deeply in love with her, and willing to do anything to have her. He spent many night staring at the light which was coming from the mansion which was located across the bay from his mansion, and while he stayed there, he kept dreaming about the life with Daisy.

However, all these dreams take a huge turn to the worse, when Daisy’s husband find out about the love Jay Gatsby has for his wife.
